FAST and COLONPREDICT are two prediction models for colorectal cancer (CRC) detection in symptomatic patients. This tool was designed for doctors and other healthcare providers to use with their patients. It is designed to facilitate the decision-making process, simplifying the evaluation of symptomatic patients and providing risk stratification of these to facilitate prioritisation of referrals for endoscopy.
FAST provides a prediction model based on easily obtainable variables such as fecal haemoglobin concentration (f‐Hb), age and sex.
COLONPREDICT shows increased diagnostic accuracy, but it requires an anorectal examination, tests done on venous blood and a detailed history to be performed before its calculation.
